Blandscapes

I coined a new word today: Blandscapes.

The endless farmland and dull countryside you see on long boring trips.

Now to search and see if i am truly original or if someone else has beaten me to it.

Oh. Oh well. It's already out there. But i did think of it myself. Truly i am a genius.
Really.

Actually I think NZ countryside is quite interesting compared to a lot of places overseas. I'd nominate the Hauraki plains as the most boring place to drive across here.

But that's more interesting than thousands of miles of pine forest (North America). European motorways make up for any lack of roadside interest with the white knuckle, high-velocity ride (tolerated speeds being from 150kph upwards) they allow.

I've never crossed the Nullabor - that must be dull as..

I vote for Canterbury Plains, Auckland suburbs and Invercargill-Dunedin as the worst blandscapes in NZ. Some would say the desert road but the colours are beautiful and I always occupy myself with trying to spot the wild horses (I've seen them once in 20 years of travelling up and down that road).

I reckon out of sight of land in the ocean could get pretty dull too if it weren't for the sunfish and the manta rays.

Hey! Front Line Assembly are playing Skel's bar ... if you can make it to Winnipeg for Sunday night, your names on the door.

FLA? Aaargh! Don't be cruel to me!

If Skel can ask them, I'm trying to get in touch to bring them down to NZ. Shhhhh.

I was gonna ask him to get autographs for you or something but then thought you might think that's kinda lame.

No sweat, I'll ask him to get a contact for ya. :)
